The Samsung Galaxy S3 features a big and bright 4.8-inch SAMOLED HD display running at a native resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels. Unfortunately, the lack of a “Plus” in the display tech means that the S3 uses the PenTile arrangement, where the subpixels are shared between adjacent pixels. To some, this doesn’t make too much of a difference, but the most eagle-eyed of you will surely be able to tell between the display on the S3 and the 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display of the Galaxy S2, one that uses a regular RGB matrix and runs at a 480 by 800 pixel resolution. The Galaxy Nexus also used a pentile screen, much to some customer’s dismay. That doesn’t mean that the S3 display is poor (on the contrary), but it’s definitely worth mentioning that its pixel density 306 ppi is not achieved naturally. The contrast is great, the colors are vivid, and its a huge step up from the display of the S2. Some believe that at least one US version of the Galaxy S3 will feature a SAMOLED Plus display, but that remains to be seen.
Smart Stay
Focus your eyes on the phone and the display won’t dim or turn off — not a useful feature for some of us but that’s impressive nonetheless.
Direct Call
Another interesting addition to S3 is the ability to call anyone without having to touch the screen. Simply hold the device up to your face and the number will be dialed automatically.
Amazing 8MP Camera
The 8MP camera now offers a 20-shot burst mode, which means photos will be of much better quality. You can also capture a photo while filming a video.
The camera app also adds face tagging for existing phone contacts and has an improved face identification and tracking feature.
S Voice and S Beam
Now you can control your phone through voice interaction. Talk to your phone, demand to change the music, or ask your questions.
S Voice lets you interact with your phone through your voice. You can talk to your phone, throw commands at it for playing music, capture photos and launch apps instantly.
You can also transfer files through S Beam. Simply touch two Galaxy S3 phones for transferring files at a blazing speed of up to 300Mbps.
Battery
Galaxy S3 has a 2100mAh removable battery. There’s also a wireless charging option in the works.
All Share Play
Similar to iPhone’s AirPlay which lets you share media content with other devices, Samsung has All Share Play that can broadcast content on small and large monitors through WiFi.
